September 11th, 2001
A friend called and woke me.
The WTC hit.
A plane into it.
Immediately I felt, Terrorism.
And that the building would melt.
I was alone that morning.
I felt depressed, not frightened.
Time seemed to freeze.
An invasion of our homeland.
Brought us to our knees.
I knew it was inevitable. We don’t live in a vacuum.
My first thought.
Then, was anger.
People can be so horrible.
It’s all a power game.
Nothing changes just the name.
There are no rules.
Do we ever listen to the cues?

Hearing the Word “Fall”
Four months after 9/11
As I walked down 5th Avenue.
I heard a lady use the word, fall.
Immediately my mind went to WTC.
She might have meant just the season.
All I saw on that fatal day down 5th Avenue was the smoke.
And for days, smelled the cremation.
People jumping out of windows, choke.
Beautiful stores on 5th Avenue.
People were dying
That moment trying
To Live
When I saw the smoke
Thought what could I give?
All I could think
Knowing they had moments of life, fleeting
One by one or in numbers
In a blink
What could I do?
Helpless and frustrated I think.
All day, all week, people trying to escape.
Then it sinks.
Friends didn't go to work that day
I was so glad.
Soon it will be May.
Time needs to pass
Remember the people in masses.
That week all I said was...
I just want time to pass.
I just want time to pass.
I just want time to pass.

Life in NYC After 9/11
Always a fast pace.
Yet just a moment in time.
The world stood still.
Before that day, all was sublime.
Suddenly, a struggle uphill.
NYC, a dynamic rhythm of life,
Electric, unique.
An energy that attracts the world.
They love us and hate us.
WTC
Symbol of world commerce.
Or, pompous Americans?
We are infallible.
Nothing can hurt us.
Then, in just a moment in time,
Our guard was down.
Before all was sublime.
No more ivory towers.
Skyline changed forever
Memorials filled with flowers.
Now we see the ground
Life will never have the same sound.

Orange Light on 9/11 and Forever
A sudden explosion or bright.
Metal melting, people burning.
Implosion in daylight.
We do not believe
Of what is to follow.
Tower two falling.
The space at first, becomes hollow.
We do not see.
Even after tower One is hit,
People do not leave.
A mistake they say?
They jump to be free.
We grieve.
We wish it were another day.
Lives lost.
A mistake, they want to say.
In one blow, a major cost.
The world, as it was, we miss.
All feel the pain.
Everyone knew someone.
What a shame.
Yet the ones to blame
Paid for our sorrow.
But where does this lead us?
Tomorrow.
It’s like a cancer.
Is there an answer?
No cure.
We are no longer secure.
Orange warning forever.
